Feeding and Nutrition

Our Work

Feeding and Nutrition

No child should go to bed hungry. We provide nutritious food and clean water so children can grow, learn and thrive.

The challenge

Malnutrition starts early in infancy for many children in Uganda. By estimate, about 11 percent of children are already stunted at birth due to poor maternal nutrition. Orphans, deaf children and vulnerable children often live in impoverished conditions and are prone to hunger and starvation. The effects of malnutrition contribute to a high disease burden.

Program overview

Nutrition is the intake of food in relation to the body’s dietary needs. Good nutrition - an adequate, well-balanced diet combined with regular physical activity - is a cornerstone of good health.

KAUMA Foundation Uganda believes that all children deserve a chance to thrive and succeed. No child should go to bed hungry. Through the support of generous individuals, churches and partner organisations, we bring comfort and joy to children facing uncertainty, hunger and starvation. With proper nutrition early in life, children can grow, develop and thrive to their potential.

The food we provide includes rice, maize flour (posho), beans, vegetables, Irish potatoes, sweet potatoes, fish, meat, cassava, bananas, chicken, eggs and more.

Please join us to provide much-needed food and clean water for orphans and vulnerable children. Every donation, no matter the amount, is a tremendous act of kindness.
