Cookies Policy

We use cookies and similar technologies so the site works properly and - with your consent - to understand how people use it.

Cookies Policy

Last updated: 24 July 2026. This Cookies Policy explains how KAUMA Foundation Uganda uses cookies and similar technologies on our website. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

The organisation responsible for this website is Kids of Africa Under Motherless Action Foundation (KAUMA), also operating as KAUMA Foundation Uganda Limited.

2. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We also use similar technologies such as local storage in your browser (for example to remember your cookie preferences). In this policy, "cookies" includes those similar tools where relevant.

3. How we use cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • keep the website working securely (for example login sessions for donor accounts)
  • remember your cookie preference choices
  • measure and improve how the site is used - only if you consent
  • support advertising / marketing measurement - only if you consent

When you first visit, our cookie banner asks for your choices. Until you allow optional categories, analytics and advertising tags stay off (Google Consent Mode defaults to denied).

4. Necessary cookies

These are required for the site to function. They cannot be switched off in our banner.

  • Donor account session (kauma_donor_session): secure HttpOnly cookie so you can stay signed in to your donor portal after a magic link
  • Consent preference storage (kauma_consent_v2 in browser local storage): remembers Accept all / selected / Reject all so we do not ask on every page load
  • Server / hosting essentials: short-lived technical data needed for security, load balancing or caching where used by our host

5. Analytics cookies (optional)

If you enable Analytics storage, we may load tools such as:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and/or Google Tag Manager (GTM)
  • Microsoft Clarity

These help us understand page views, journeys and technical issues. They load only after you grant analytics consent, and only when the relevant measurement IDs are configured in our site settings.

6. Advertising / marketing cookies (optional)

If you enable one or more of Ad-related storage, Personalized ads or Ad user data (Google), we may load tools such as the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and related Google advertising storage signals. These help measure campaign performance and - where allowed - personalise ads. They load only after consent and only when configured.

7. Managing your choices

  • Use the cookie banner on your first visit (Accept all, Accept selected, or Reject all)
  • Reopen preferences any time via the cookie icon / "Cookie preferences" control on the site
  • You can also clear site data for this domain in your browser settings (this removes local storage preferences and may sign you out of the donor portal)

Rejecting optional cookies does not block necessary features of the public website.

8. Retention

  • Consent preferences: until you change them or clear browser storage
  • Donor session cookie: for the duration of the portal session (typically up to 14 days)
  • Third-party analytics / ads cookies: according to each provider's own retention rules after you have consented

9. Changes

We may update this policy when our tools or practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do.
